Clark says “To celebrate my fortieth year in jazz, I've assembled my latest troupe of outstanding young musicians for 2018.  Despite their apparent youth, their maturity on their instruments is what has encouraged me to put this particular group together.  Sean and Alex have become fairly familiar faces to Herts Jazz audiences and my experience with the other two at Birmingham Conservatoire confirms this is an exceptional line up which I look forward to working with in future.“

18 The Gradischnig/Raible Quintet - Searching For Hope BOOK NOW

Herwig Gradischnig - Tenor, Steve Fishwick - Trumpet, Claus Raible - Piano, Giorgos Antoniou - Bass, Matt Home - Drums

This group has been working together since 2014, completing this, its 5th tour, in March 2018.  This gig marks the first visit to the UK for a series of concerts from this UK/European band.  The programme features the music of the great American pianist and composer Elmo Hope (1923-1967). Much of the programme is arranged for quintet by German pianist Claus Raible, with some transcribed Hope originals included.  The challenging compositions of Elmo Hope deliver a hard swinging set fronted by the band’s Austrian co-leader Herwig Gradischnig and our very own Steve Fishwick in the horn section.

25 Two Of A Mind BOOK NOW

Chris Biscoe, Allison Neale – Reeds, Jeremy Brown – Bass, Matt Fishwick – Drums

This is the gig postponed from last December. Exploring afresh the freewheeling, wonderfully melodic interpretations of standard material recorded 50 years ago by Gerry Mulligan and Paul Desmond on Blues in Time and Two of a Mind, this new band promises to evoke the spirit of these classic recordings while giving free reign to the personalities of the musicians.  Led by two of our most popular guest artists, this will be a superb evening of tribute and appreciation of those early jazz masters.
