In the 1970s, Dick was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and went on to play with Graham Collier, Chris Biscoe, Mike Westbrook, Keith Tippett, Gil Evans, Al Cohn, and many others. Dick was with the Ronnie Scott Quintet for 14 years from 1980, he has played in the Peter King Quintet and leads his own Quartet. Dick is also a talented author and his autobiography ‘Dizzy Gillespie was at my Wedding: Jubilance and Woe – a Jazz Musician’s Lot’ is an excellent.
