Under Milk Wood & A Child's Christmas in Wales

Large stan tracey 2

For our last gig of the season we’ve put together a special occasion, celebrating the words of Dylan Thomas and the music of Stan Tracey. Tracey’s Under Milk Wood suite has gone down in British jazz history as being an outstanding recording and a most important piece of music from 1966, encouraging a whole generation to regard jazz from the UK in a different light. In 2010 Stan was inspired to compose a kind of a sequel in the form of A Child’s Xmas In Wales, again with narration but this time featuring his grandson Ben. Tonight for the first time we present both suites back to back with narration by Ben and accompaniment by Tracey stalwarts, Simon Allen and Andrew Cleyndert.
